Happy New Year to everyone. 2012 was a busy year and it looks as though 2013 is heading the same way.

Two articles in the recent Austral Ecology http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/aec.2012.37.issue-8/issuetoc include analysis completed by Scats About.

1. Are smaller subspecies of common brushtail possums more omnivorous than larger ones? (pages 893–902)
JENNYFFER CRUZ, DUNCAN R. SUTHERLAND, GARY R. MARTIN and LUKE K.-P. LEUNG

2. Threatened mammals become more predatory after small-scale prescribed fires in a high-rainfall rocky savanna (pages 926–935) IAN J. RADFORD

We also have two papers awaiting publication. One on the detection of Pogonomys sp. in a snake and the other on the diurnal activity of wombats.

I've posted a video of a skink battle at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PeeHZKrvms. I came across these skinks behind our bins last year. We'd never seen a collection attacking a conspecific like this before. The skink ended up getting awaybut we never found out if it survived or not.
